How To Know If A Child Care Centre Is Safe For Your Child

When choosing a child care centre, you must prioritise safety. There is nothing more important than knowing that your child is safe in the centre. How will you know if the child care centre is safe enough for your child?

Here are some of the things that you should look out for in a child care centre. These things will help you decide whether the child care centre you are eyeing at will be safe for your child:

• Are there furniture inside the child care centre? Are these furniture in their excellent condition? There must be no loose screws or protruding nails or furniture that are about to break. Faulty furniture can cause accidents and injuries especially when the children don’t know how to avoid them yet.

• Are the toys in the child care centre safe to play with? There are toys that are not advisable for little children. The children should only be allowed to play with toys suitable to their age. Also the child care centre must invest on high quality toys. Cheap toys are easy to break and small parts may fall. Young children might eat the small parts. Child care centres should avoid toys with small parts.

• Where does the child care centre hide all the cleaning supplies, medicines, and other chemicals in the centre? They should be hidden on cabinets that children are not able to reach. Cleaning supplies can be toxic. Also, if the children are able to reach the medicine cabinet, they might drink or eat the medicines and this is serious.

• Is there an emergency exit in the child care centre? Is there an emergency plan? All the staffs should know what to do in case of emergency. Fire exits should be clearly marked. There should be a safety policy procedure in place. There should be fire extinguishers.

• Are the staffs credible and trustworthy? How does the child care centre employ their staffs? What are the qualifications they look for? They should do a background check of all the staffs because parents should have peace of mind that their children are in good hands.

• Is there a rule on who can pick up the child? You should know that nobody will be allowed to pick up your child unless they are authorised.

Look out for these things when you are looking for a child care centre. There is nothing more important than the safety of the children inside the child care centre.
