Dakota Fanning

Dakota Fanning the doe-eyed darling of Hollywood needs no introduction! Born to professional tennis player Joy nee Arrington and minor league baseball player Steave Fanning, Dakota’s tryst with the glam world began at the age of five, when she appeared in a Tide commercial. Dakota always wanted to be an actress, ever since she was a little girl. In her words “I’ve always played the mom and I play my sister as the daughter. I wanted to be an actress on television and movies instead of just around the house.” At the tender age of seven, Dakota stunned Hollywood with her super acting skills in the film “I Am Sam”. She played the daughter of Sean Penn’s mentally challenged character. The movie made her the youngest person ever to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award. She continued landing significant roles throughout the decade. Her role as Allie -an alien/human hybrid in Steven Spielberg produced science fiction miniseries Taken was critically well-acclaimed. The later years saw her starring as a precocious child in “Uptown Girls” alongside Brittany Murphy, a nine-year-old character Pita who develops friendship with a retired assassin-turned-bodyguard played by Denzel Washington in Man On Fire, as the daughter of Tom Cruise’s character in War Of The World and appearing opposite Robert De Niro in Hide and Seek. In 2006 at the age of 12 Dakota became the youngest member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She was Gary Winick’s only choice to play Fern Arable in the adaptation of E.B. White’s “Charlotte’s Web” (2006), where her marvelous performance gained accolades from critics as well as the audiences. Her role as a feisty and warm little girl living in a farm with her family helped her become popular among her peers, earning her a Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Female Movie Star. In 2009 she portrayed the role of Jane, an antagonist vampire, in “New Moon”. In early 2010, Dakota Fanning starred in The Runaways, a biodrama on the history of the all-girl teenage rock band by the same name. Dakota plays the lead singer Cherie Curry alongside Kristen Stewart who plays the band’s lead guitarist Joan Jett.
